Screening for Group B Strep in Pregnancy
- Group B Strep (GBS) presents a significant risk of neonatal infection resulting in severe illness or even death
- GBS swab is for direct collection and rapid processing of specimens
- Contains 2ml vial of Lim broth for the enrichment of Group B Streptococcus while inhibiting commensal bacteria such as Escherichia coli
- Includes a high absorbency foam swab to collect specimens in normal way from vagina and/or rectum
- The leakproof vial features a secure screw cap with integral swab capture
- For direct plating on chromogenic agar or for testing by molecular techniques such as PCR
- Compatible with automated processing systems and offers faster turn around for manual processing
